
- Patients who fail to comply with fasting instructions, financial responsibilities or unacceptable behaviour.
- Communicable illness (e.g. influenza, respiratory tract infections or gastroenteritis)
- Children requiring anaesthesia other than local anaesthetic under the age of 2 years.
- Patients with an ASA greater than 3: Except for patients undergoing Liposuction procedures where the ASA classification must NOT exceed and ASA 2. (Refer to Liposuction Policy PP 23-02)
- Patients with a weight of greater than 145kgs for IV Sedation/General Anaesthetic.
- Patients with a BMI greater than 45 for IV Sedation/General Anaesthetic
- Any patient with idiopathic anaphylaxis
- Patients on Warfarin, whose INR on day of surgery is greater than 2
- Non ambulant patients (as there is no lifting apparatus at this hospital)
- No escort or support from a responsible person for the first 24hours post procedure. Exemption being administered Local Anaesthetic only
- Booked Surgery time greater than 5 hours
- Any patients requiring physical restraints
- Patients deemed at risk of self-harm during admission
- Patients who do not understand their healthcare rights, (and do not have a substitute decision maker)
- Patients at risk of aggression
- Any patient with NFR or DNR Order
- WEIGHT - NO ONE EXCEEDING 145KG
- BMI - NO ONE EXCEEDING 45
- AGE: No patient under 2 years of age.
