Day Surgery is surgery that is completed in one day, with convalescence at home.

The three most important issues for day surgery are:

  • Patients are given adequate information preoperatively to make informed decisions
  • Patients are assessed to make sure they are safe candidates for day surgery
  • Patients have a carer who stays with them for the first 24hours and a number to contact in case of emergencies.
